The days are getting warmer as we inch closer to summer. For many displaced children across Lebanon, moments of comfort are becoming especially meaningful.
In one small but heartfelt initiative, Lebanese journalist and activist Ritaj Zaknoun pulled up in an ice cream truck to distribute free treats to displaced children in Saida. The gesture, simple in nature, quickly turned into a moment of joy.
Though it was her first time operating a soft serve machine, she quickly got the hang of it as more children came up to the ice cream truck to get their share. Obviously, practice makes perfect when it comes to perfecting a soft serve.
Zaknoun is known for her initiatives and ongoing support for the displaced during times of hardship. She recently transformed an ambulance into a mobile pharmacy so that the displaced have access to medication. You can read all about it here.
