This Beloved Sandwich Spot Just Dropped a Janerik Sandwich

Janerik season is upon us, and this means our fridges are full of janerik (or maybe that’s just me). It’s arguably the most delicious and versatile fruit of the season, so much so that this iconic sandwich shop decided to incorporate janerik into a sandwich.

Submarine is one of Lebanon’s yummiest and most affordable sandwich spots, with multiple locations across Lebanon. If you’re not familiar, it’s the kind of place made for anyone who loves classic Lebanese snacks. They serve the messy, saucy, and super filling sandwiches that we all know and love.

Though you might want to go for their popular fajita or classic Fransisco, they’re now adding janerik as a key ingredient to their makanek, shrimp, and crab sandwiches.

The janerik is crushed (and of course, the seeds are taken out), then topped off with a squeeze of lemon. After prepping their makanek, shrimp, or crab, they finish off the sandwich with a sprinkle of janerik to give it that tart and refreshing flavor. Could this be one of those creations that could actually work?

Anyway, even if you don’t decide to try it but you were curious enough to click on this article, we think their fajita deserves a shoutout. Have you seen a cheese pull this good? It’s actually the star item on their menu, and for good reason.

Make sure to check out their Instagram for more. They have locations in Mar Mikhael, Jnah, Antelias, Nabatieh, and Saida.
