Voices of Wisdom: A Platform Sharing Life Advice From Lebanon’s Older Generations

Your Lebanese teta always comes up with the best solution to every problem. The random 3ammo you ran into bel dekkene always gives you the most quotable life advice. Somewhere between everyday conversations and unexpected encounters, there’s a kind of wisdom that only Lebanon’s older generation has.

Voices of Wisdom, although a new platform, is already going viral for real conversations with older Lebanese voices, sharing unfiltered advice and life stories.

“They lived it, you learn it”

In one of their most viral videos, the interviewer asks an elderly Lebanese woman about love. And between the hilarious comments she makes about her love life, she gives honest, no-nonsense advice that reminds us all of our tetas.

She says, “It’s very hard ya 3amto…We had kids, and I stayed with him. He passed away, may God rest his soul…and we loved and that love went, went in the ocean, in the river.”

Another man also gave his own advice to the same question. He talked about how not every marriage begins with love, mentioning his own experience with an arranged marriage. He says, “Love is a very beautiful thing. Experiencing it is very beautiful.”

The most recent video posted is of a 53-year-old woman in her first year at university. She says, “Even if we grow older, that doesn’t mean we stop dreaming…we follow the spark that makes our lives brighter. Let’s follow the madness that makes us feel the pulse of life.”

Voices of Wisdom builds on moments like these. These conversations slow things down just enough to remind us that wisdom doesn’t always come from books or experts. Sometimes it comes from a teta in a grocery line or a 3ammo at a dekkene.
