The Banana Cognacs
8:30 pm – 9:30pm
The Banana Cognacs are a Hamra-grown blues, funk and burned-fuse band from Beirut with a trigger-sensitive sound that is laid out against offbeat drum formations spliced with electronic additives and alternative folky chord progression seasonings, and just a twist of enriched lemon. With no real parameters defining their sound, all are welcome to get a good whiff of their one hundred percent organic, pure and original set-list as a preview to their soon-to-be-released album in the making.
Kool Quartet
9:45 pm – 10:45 pm
It all started with Hani Siblini on keyboards, Emile Boustany on drums and Abboud Saadi on bass. After playing many club gigs the name Kool Trio was chosen for the band. The band plays standard pop, jazz, Latin and funky tunes arranged in a different way. Nidal Abu Samra on saxophone joined the band in 2011, a rich sound and color that finally led to Kool Quartet.
Jagodzinski Trio
11:00 pm – 12:30 pm
Andrzej Jagodzinski, Adam Cegielski and Czesław “Mały” Bartkowski – these musicians that need no introduction. Their position on the Polish music scene has been well grounded for many years, and their performances in prestigious concert halls around the world are rewarded with standing ovations.
The Trio is best known for their jazz interpretations of Chopin’s music. Their first album entitled CHOPIN, issued in 1993, started a veritable wave of similar projects. Listeners still love that music. The new albums – Sonata in B flat minor (2009) and Chopin – Les brillantes (2010) have promptly became Golden Records.
This concert is dedicated to the late Malgorzata Ziolkowska El-Houssami.
