Local Businesses Shut Down Amid Worsening Fuel Crisis

Navigating grueling circumstances, Lebanese businesses have defied the near impossible in order to get back on their feet. A global pandemic, an economic recession, and an unprecedented financial crisis left so many struggling to say the least. Add to that a paralyzing explosion and you have a recipe for failure. Still, many businesses managed to keep their doors open, until now.

This week, due to the rapidly worsening fuel crisis, local businesses found themselves forced to shut their doors to customers. The vegan restaurant, bar, and cafe Orenda announced that it would be closing until further notice yesterday.

Earlier today, Bardo joined the list announcing that they would also be closed until further notice.

Meanwhile, others have been forced to slash operating hours. Popular burger shop Gilbert’s Burger Bites put up an Instagram story announcing that they would not be operational between 12 PM and 2 PM, and 5 PM and 7 PM due to shortages in electricity.
