“A Play Entitled Sehnsucht” is a film directed by Roy Badran. The title is based on the book, “SehnSucht,” by Lebanese astronomer Bernard Zeidan. “Sehnsucht” is a German word referring to the self-destructive aftermath of having an intense longing for an ideal moment (that will never be achieved again).
In his book, Zeidan predicts a catastrophe: “You will wake up one morning to see the Lebanese screaming: Our planet is dead! Our planet is buried forever! And it’s only then when they will ache from this addictive poignant sorrow of longing…only then they will know what Sehnsucht is…”
