Join Tawlet for an olive oil tasting and a lunch cooked using only Bassatin Baanoub’s olive oil. Bassatin Baanoub, an olive grove nestled in a forest, is located somewhere between Saida and Jezzine. Abandoned for decades, this forgotten gem was rediscovered by mistake by Jean-Pierre and Yasmina Zahar, who are now doing their best to save this island of greenery and silence.
Their aim is to bring this very old farm back to life and make it sustainable again, as well as to protect and increase its biodiversity. Their first step for saving it was producing organic olive oil from the olive grove already there. Rewardingly, Bassatin Baanoub’s organic extra virgin first press olive oil ranked seventh at the national extra virgin olive oil contest at Horeca 2012.
