Beirut Connects to Istanbul # 2

From Mar 8 to Mar 9, 2010
8:00pm -> 10:00pm
Zico House

Images have an intensity going far beyond
oral history records or text.
Can documentary making be advanced
as a more effective research tool for
communities, traditions, and legacies – can we oppose it to statistics?

Special Formula:While all artificial images – from cave paintings to the postmodern fine arts – are “technical” in the broadest sense of the word, there is room for distinguishing between painting and photography; the first image is seen. The second is watched, and read. These two lectures will include four video researches examining how the immediacy of technical images can help in the writing of history and ethnography.
