A student production at the Lebanese American University is showcasing a play originally written by the legendary Gibran Kahlil Gibran and featuring a duet direction by Samar El Hajj and Kinda El Amine.
Iram of the Pillars, also called Aram, Ubar or the City of a Thousand Pillars, is a lost city on the Arabian Peninsula. The region became lost to modern history, and was thought to be only a figment of mythical tales. The King Shaddad defied the warnings of the prophet Hud and God smote the city, driving it into the sands, never to be seen again. The ruins of the city lie buried somewhere in the sands of the Rub’ al-Khali.
This text was written by Gibran Khalil Gibran during the last few years before his death. Gibran sought to convey his deep spiritual insights which had grown and matured within him all through the years of his seeking of truth.
Iram as Gibran mentions it, is an existing city but not of this realm, it is invisible to humans who have not achieved yet spiritual enlightenment. Only the highly spiritual spirits can access this mysterious city of God, and Amina was one of them.
Special Formula:Tickets to be collected same day from the Gulbenkian ticket booth between 11am and 1pm or one hour before the performance.
