Collecting Design Talk at Carwan Gallery

As part of the Beirut Design Week 2013, the Carwan Gallery will be hosting a talk called “Collecting Design”. Design collectors are seeking something that goes beyond the readily available, wanting an extra
something from the objects they choose to surround themselves with.

There are different reasons and influences that can motivate the acquisition of an object, changing its simple functional nature to being both functional and desirable.

The objective of this talk is to have a discussion about the different ways of collecting design and suggest strategies on how young and experienced collectors could develop their own collections.

The speakers will expose their visions about this specific market of investing in functional objects with criteria and examples of historical value, technology, process, rarity, innovation or cultural relevance.
