Mariam Saleh launches her album “Ana Mesh Baghanny” in Beirut. Last August, the Egyptian artist Mariam Saleh introduced for the first time a set of the musical work she did in Cairo, and in spite of the musical performances that continue to be made in Beirut, which are mostly in cooperation with the Lebanese musician Zeid Hamdan, she comes next on the fifteenth and sixteenth of May to “Babel Theater” in Hamra for the launch of her first album “Ana Mesh Baghanny” (a “Ekaa” 2012 production) during the festival “Women in communities at risk”.
The journalist Ahmed Zaatari says in his article entitled: “A revolution that tastes like rock music” (News, December 27, 2011) about Mariam Saleh: “she offers songs in a sesame coastal traditional way. Participated in a number of plays and films, including the film “Ein Shams”, directed by Ibrahim Batout, in which she sang the song of the emblem. In that period, she founded Mary band “Passport”, and consisted of two instruments only: Oud and drums. Before establishing rock band “Blessing”, affected by the psychedelic rock genre such as “Pink Floyd” and Muse. In 2010, she made in cooperation with Lebanese musician Zeid Hamdan a song called “Reforms” which took her to another dimension.”
