Nouzha Photography Exhibition

The Image Festival Association – Zakira, and As-Safir newspaper, cordially invite you to the photography exhibition “Nouzha,” photographs taken by the women in Barbar Al Khazen prison.

The exhibition is the outcome of the Nouzha Project, launched by Zakira in 2013 in cooperation with The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC). The project took place in the Barbar Al Khazen women’s prison in Beirut and aimed to improve the quality of life of prisoners by developing their photography skills through training workshops.

The workshops sought to provide prisoners with a personal artistic skill and create a healthy space for them to express themselves. Introducing them to a new skill helps them to reintegrate into society and enter the labor market upon their release from prison.
