For the second year, the Rencontres Internationales have been invited to Beirut Art Center for 3 days of screenings and meetings, a space for discovery and thought on practices between new cinema and contemporary art, in the presence of a number of guests.
This year, films and videos specifically chosen by Beirut Art Center, in a collaborative work of programming, are placed in dialogue with works from five thematic screening sessions. This will be a dialogue between works from France and Lebanon in the framework of an international programming.
There will be a workshop on film given by the video director Christian Barani, entitled Ecriture du hasard et approche documentaire for the students and all age groups.
There will also be a conference-debate with Christian Merlhiot, co-director of the ‘Pavillon – Creative Laboratory’ at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, and founder of the collective Pointligneplan. He will step in on questions related to new issues in the field of the moving image, as well as artists’ accompaniment, and problems of presenting artworks.
Curators: Nathalie Hénon and Jean-François Rettig, directors of the Rencontres Internationales, in collaboration with Lamia Joreige and Sandra Dagher, Directors of Beirut Art Center.
