Sami Shabshab and Friends Reunion Band

On the occasion of his 50th birthday, Sami Shabshab has assembled a band which for the first time in about 25 years reunites him with old friends Walid Itayim, Rick Musallam and Munir Khauli. Also in the band is the veteran drummer Emile Boustany and Sami’s wife May Kekhia who will sing on several tunes. The music that will be performed will be a guitar based combination of funk, blues, fusion and blues rock. While a couple of the tunes are original compositions by the band members, most of the material will be made up of cover numbers by people such as Jeff Beck, Edgar Winter, The Meters, Freddie King, Maceo Parker, Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Turrentine, Frank Zappa, as well as various blues and jazz standards.
