Filmed at the Institute of Systematic Zoology and Evolutionary Biology in Jena, “The Flies” offers an experimental sequel to Hitchcock’s “The Birds”.

Susann Maria Hempel was born on 1983 in Greiz. Between 1999 and 2008 she joined the Arts Group “Theaterhaus Weimar”. At 2009 she finished her studies at Bauhaus-University Weimar for media design.

This film has been selected because it was part of “Soirée Allemande – A Crush on German Short Films” at the 34th International Short Film Festival Clermont-Ferrand, France, on January 30, 2012.
