Tribute to Mahmoud Mabsout (Fahman)

Born in 1941 in Tripoli, Mahmoud Mabsout started his career as a comedian at “Télé Liban”, Lebanon’s original television station, where he hosted a show along with Chouchou, Mohammad Chamil and others, before joining the series entitled “Abou salim” in 1962. Working with fellow comedian Salah Tizani, Mabsout becomes the iconic “Fahman”, a funny, slick, and witty character that goes on to influence generations upon generations of Lebanese people. He goes on to join the Rahbani brothers with whom he shoots a number of movies, as well as a series entitled “Men Yom la Yom” (1972).

In 2011, he founded the group “Ta2esh Fa2esh”, with whom he organized tours in local villages.

“Fahman” sadly bid us farewell on Monday July 25th, 2011, during a show he was performing in the South alongside lifelong friend and colleague Salah Tizani. During his long carrier, he has shot 33 movies and participated in 25 theatrical productions, almost always improvising his lines in his scenes. He is considered as one of the founders of Lebanese comedy.
