Beirut Art Center is proud to present ‘All that is reminiscent of her name’ by Krikor Jabotian, the latest exhibition as part of its series BAC design.<\/p>\n

Aptronym: A name that aptly matches the occupation or character of its owner, often in a humorous or ironic way.<\/p>\n

It has been said that many of our names can be traced back to the occupation of our ancestor(s). Jabotian, originally Tchapoutian, means pieces of fabric in Armenian. There could hardly be more apt a name for a designer. But ultimately, isn\u2019t a name defined by what it triggers and represents? A name could trigger the memory of a scent, a feeling, a place, a moment, and many other elements.<\/p>\n

For a designer, certain names will always represent a vision \u2013 a distinguished silhouette, a fabric, a delicate process\u2026All that is reminiscent of her name is a capsule collection of tops that fall under a sous ligne of Krikor Jabotian\u2019s work. It is the labor of all the beautiful connotations a name can evoke.<\/p>\n

Krikor Jabotian joined l’Ecole Superieure des Arts et techniques de la Mode (ESMOD) Beirut, to initiate his studies. Shortly after graduating, he began working at Elie Saab’s creative department. Jabotian soon began developing his own independent designs and was selected by Starch Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Rabih Kayrouz and Tala Hajjar, to showcase his work. At 23, Jabotian set up his first atelier, and went on to open his new and vibrant workshop in Tabariz where he currently works and receives clients.<\/p>\n
