Michel Ayoub and Rima Chahrour have joined forces to battle the djinn of boredom in the Arab art scene.<\/p>\n

Self-dubbed, “The Freaks,” the artists’ mission is to inspire playful creativity and fun seriousness, pushing the Arab art scene out of the conflict zone that serves to isolate it from the rest of the world and provoking new standards for contemporary art in the region. They aim to attack their subjects and interests with amusing positivity ending in a rather happy and merry contradiction.<\/p>\n

The freaks say that art in the Arab world is still largely stuck between a traditional past and a contemporary future. Their plan is to shout bov! until the baby is born.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
