Ba\u00eftna was started by a group of volunteers who are counseling persons with a developmental disability, with the aim of making them feel like they are part of society. Based on their experience, especially with those having ageing parents, the founders felt there was a need to take care of them in a dedicated home.<\/p>\n

In Ba\u00eftna, people who have a mental handicap are taken care of by committed persons who share with them life and daytime activities in homes having family-like settings that are integrated into local neighborhoods. The organization welcomes in particular orphans and those uncared for, irrespective of education, family background, or religion. It fosters friendly relations and mutual confidence among people and the development of capacities and talents of the mentally handicapped.<\/p>\n

The Ba\u00eftna community consists of a small number of households where people share in decision-making and each person contributes as they are able. They believe that meaningful work or day-time activities are very important to a person’s dignity. Ba\u00eftna seeks to provide an environment where people can reach their full potential, lead lives rich in relationships of mutuality, and have a valid place in society where they can contribute. Their mission is to create life communities that encourage inclusion, tolerance and belonging.<\/p>\n

The project of Ba\u00eftna calls for a building designed to accommodate four families composed of ten residents (40 mentally challenged persons will be welcomed to the house) and four caregivers (volunteers) each. Besides the living space, the building will include workshops, sports centers, conference room, infirmary, management and other facilities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
