As part of the Miniatures festival, the Sunflower Theatre will be hosting a live performance by Fareeq El Atrash and LaTlateh. <\/p>\n
Fareeq el Atrash is a live Arabic hip-hop band representing Beirut, Lebanon. The crew has been consistently rocking stages at center of the bubbling local Beirut underground scene since 2006. It is spearheaded by the region’s finest and most lyrical emcees: Edd Abbas and Cappuchyno, along with the country’s hands-down best beatboxer, live vocal effects man, and all-round entertainer, FZ. <\/p>\n
Backed by the forever-funky veteran drummer Fouad Afra and founding member and bass player John Imad Nasr, Fareeq el Atrash is set to release \u201cAl Mawjeh el Tarsha\u201d, their new album, and expand beyond Lebanon in their quest to bring socially conscious music that moves crowds and is in tune with the times.<\/p>\n
LaTlateh is a Syrian rap group that was formed in 2011. Members Al Sayyed Darwish, Watar, and Abu Kolthoum have been active in the Arabic Rap scene as solo artists in Syria for more than five years prior. <\/p>\n
The group’s name comes from the colloquial use of the Arabic verb “lat” which means to banter and speak information freely and profusely, which the artists do with notable skill, whether the topic at hand is social, political, or revolutionary. LaTlateh endeavors to let the voice of the streets of Syria be heard, a voice which mass media outlets and even some kinsmen often ignore. The group is currently working on its forthcoming debut album.<\/p>\n
