{"id":7396,"date":"2011-04-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-04-05T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/directory\/beirut-music-and-art-festival-bmaf-2011"},"modified":"2011-04-05T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2011-04-05T00:00:00","slug":"beirut-music-and-art-festival-bmaf-2011","status":"publish","type":"directory","link":"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/en\/directory\/beirut-music-and-art-festival-bmaf-2011\/","title":{"rendered":"Beirut Music and Art Festival (BMAF) &#8211; 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The renaissance of Beirut\u2019s golden age of art and culture with the advent of the first annual Beirut Music &#038; Art Festival (BMAF), held in the Beirut Souks, Downtown, presented by John Kassabian (organizer of Beirut Jazz Festival), Fadi Ghazzaoui (Hamra Street Festival) and Imad Darwich-Houssami.<\/p>\n<p>  The Beirut Music &#038; Art Festival and it\u2019s fusion of more than two hundred local and international collaborating artists will put culture back on the daily agenda, transforming the quads of the Beirut Souks into an art and music metropolis. <\/p>\n<p>  An art exhibition, curated around the theme of \u2018Public Space\u2019, will transform downtown Beirut into it\u2019s very own gallery, rich with provocative images, sounds, sculptures, multimedia and theater. An exhibition capturing the vestiges of old-Beirut will be on display. The art exhibition will dissect the evolving state of Beirut\u2019s public spaces. <\/p>\n<p>  Local and international artists are invited to submit their works for consideration by April 14th; successful applicants will be notified of their inclusion shortly thereafter. <br \/>  With 45 local and international bands, 3 per night, will perform in the Beirut Souks Music and Art Village, in an East meets West fusion. Drinks on tap and a food court full of snacks will keep festivities flavorful.
