The 48 Hour Film Project invites filmmakers from around the world to produce a complete short movie in just two days. <\/p>\n

The project constitutes of a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team of helpers make a movie \u2014 from writing, to shooting, editing and scoring \u2014 in just 48 hours. This is its first time in the Middle East, with Beirut honored with hosting duties. <\/p>\n

On Friday July 8th 2011, you will get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in your movie. 48 hours later, the movie will need to be complete. It will then be screened at a local theater, either Metropolis Sofil or Masrah Beirut on July 13th-14th.<\/p>\n

The projects will be judged by Three Lebanese film industry professionals. The best film to represent Lebanon will automatically compete in an annual “filmapalooza” event with the best 48-hour films of all competing cities for the best 48-hour Film in the World. The ten best films will also be featured at the Cannes Shorts Film Festival in 2012.<\/p>\n

In 2010, nearly 40,000 filmmakers made 3,000 films in 81 cities on five continents. This year, we’re even bigger, with 101 countries participating, and filmmakers around the world taking the challenge to make a film in just 48 hours.<\/p>\n

The mission is to advance film-making and promote filmmakers. Through this festival\/competition, the project encourages filmmakers and would-be filmmakers to get out there and make movies. The tight deadline of 48 hours puts the focus squarely on the filmmakers\u2014emphasizing creativity and teamwork skills. While the time limit places an unusual restriction on the filmmakers, it is also liberating by putting an emphasis on “doing” instead of “talking.”<\/p>\n
