Lebanese singer Mohammad Iskander has reportedly been denied entry into Canada following pressure from activist groups who say the performer promotes homophobia and sexism.<\/p>\n

The NGO, Raynbow<\/a>, reports that Iskander did not perform at his events scheduled to take place last week in Windsor on August 31 and Montreal on September 1. The El Mazai Restaurant in Ottowa also announced on its Facebook page<\/a> that Iskander\u2019s performance at the restaurant \u2013 slated for Sunday \u2013 was postponed until next week. <\/p>\n

In the song \u201cDodd al-Onof\u201d (Against Violence) Iskander sings that men have \u201ccontracted the disease of softness\u2026 they will look like a guy but act like a girl.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t pamper [your son] like you pamper roses
When he makes a mistake, punish him and be tough
Being tough is necessary
Let him become tough and a street punk
That\u2019s better than him becoming half a man.\u201d <\/i><\/p>\n

Critics also point to Iskander\u2019s song Jemhouriyet Albi (The State of my Heart) for its misogynistic leanings: <\/p>\n

\u201cOur girls don\u2019t get hired according to their degrees\u2026
Our girls, they get whatever they want
They don\u2019t need to work for pleasure\u2026
Your job is my taking care of my heart, my sensations and my emotions.
