In an absolutely horrifying turn on the recent rise of kidnapping events in Lebanon, The Daily Star<\/a> reports that a 12-year-old boy was kidnapped at gunpoint in the Beirut suburb of Jnah on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The kidnappers are asking for a $1 million ransom and threatening to kill Mohammad Nibal Awada, whose father is reportedly a wealthy businessman, if their demand is not met. Awada’s father has reportedly asked the kidnappers to reduce the sum, saying he could only secure $50,000.<\/p>\n

Kidnapping has been on an alarming rise<\/a> recently, with three businessmen reported kidnapped in the past few weeks alone.<\/p>\n
