{"id":25183,"date":"2013-06-03T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-06-03T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/25183\/the-elusive-deer-of-lebanon"},"modified":"2013-06-03T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2013-06-03T00:00:00","slug":"the-elusive-deer-of-lebanon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/en\/25183\/the-elusive-deer-of-lebanon\/","title":{"rendered":"The Elusive Deer of Lebanon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before I saw this picture, I never thought we had deer in Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p>  Yet a quick Google search will tell you that there actually <i>were<\/i> a fair amount of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Persian_fallow_deer\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">Persian fallow deer<\/a> in the region, though the species is currently only present in Iran and Israel.<\/p>\n<p>  Though I&#8217;m not entirely sure what kind of deer are in this picture, a comment on <a href=\"https:\/\/blogbaladi.com\/deers-in-lebanon\/\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">Blog Baladi<\/a> alleges that they are all in Bekaa, at a private farm on the road from Abelias to Kamed el Loz that is owned by Hariri.<\/p>\n<p>  Still, it&#8217;s not all that farfetched to believe that Lebanon will soon again have wild deer.
