Thankfully, this generation of parents in Lebanon has generally become more educated, aware and alert  (there\u2019s a &#8220;but&#8221; making its way through&#8230; wait for it).<br \/>  <br \/>  But despite that, there are still some terrible parenting habits happening, and although we laugh hysterically when a small car with a family of ten people and a cassette of Ali Deek blasting out the stereo drives past, we all know it\u2019s wrong.  Let\u2019s take a look at the worst of the worst:<br \/>  <br \/>  <b><big><big>1. Smoking in Front of Your Little Ones<\/big><\/big><\/b><br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/32133-3-250x185.png\"width=\"100%\"><br \/>  (Photo via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.counselheal.com\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">counselheal<\/a>)<br \/>  <br \/>  It&#8217;s not uncommon to see parent\u2019s smoking casually in front of their children \u2013 heck, even in front of their baby.  Heck, even when they&#8217;re pregnant. What\u2019s funnier is that when their kids grow up, they ban them from smoking cigarettes (although, secondhand smoke is just as bad as firsthand), but allow them to smoke hookah.<br \/>  <br \/>  Because, bta3rif, hookah isn\u2019t ten times worse than cigarettes. In fact, hookah has become so normalized that Hookah Sunday is like family bonding time. Lol.<br \/>  <br \/>  <b><big><big>2. Driving With Children in Your Lap<\/big><\/big><\/b><br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/32133-7.png\"width=\"100%\"><br \/>  (Photo via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iraqundermyskin.com\/2013\/10\/the-sense-of-danger.html\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">Iraqundermyskin.com<\/a>)<br \/>  <br \/>  Did someone punch you in the head? Are you on pills?  WHY ARE YOU TEXTING, HOLDING YOUR BABY AND DRIVING AT THE SAME TIME?<br \/>  <br \/>  <b><big><big>3. Hitting Your Kids in Public<\/big><\/big><\/b><br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/32133-6-250x205.png\"width=\"100%\"><br \/>  (Photo via <a href=\"https:\/\/thestir.cafemom.com\/toddler\/162963\/5_reasons_you_arent_fine\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">thestir.cafemom.com<\/a>)<br \/>  <br \/>  This one just breaks my heart. There is definitely nothing more humiliating than a parent hitting their child in public \u2013 and no, it\u2019s not the child that\u2019s humiliated. It\u2019s the parent that is.<br \/>  <br \/>  (Jk, it\u2019s the child that\u2019s humiliated but that sounded pretty good in my head) Although this is highly debatable, hitting, on its own, is a terrible thing. But when you hit a child in public? <br \/>  <br \/>  <b><big><big>4. Buying Expensive Cars For Your Kids At Just 16<\/big><\/big><\/b><br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/32133-4-250x166.png\"width=\"100%\"><br \/>  (Photo via <a href=\"https:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_68iaQ2sfoJg\/S8NuhchWUaI\/AAAAAAAAApQ\/rAdnM24O7Cc\/s1600\/bugatti-hermes-veyron-01.jpg\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">blogspot.com<\/a>)<br \/>  <br \/>  Ridiculous.<br \/>  <br \/>  <b><big><big>5. Setting Double Standards<\/big><\/big><\/b><br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/32133-5-250x235.png\"width=\"100%\"><br \/>  (Photo via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tumblr.com\/tagged\/double-standard\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">Tumblr.com<\/a>)<br \/>  <br \/>  Oh, I could spend years writing books upon books and academic articles on the prevalence of double standards in Lebanon. To throw one example at you: a son can party until two in the morning because, you know, he&#8217;s a dude. But a daughter? No, she has to be good and stay at home so the neighbors don\u2019t call her a faltani.<br \/>  <br \/>  You don\u2019t believe in your kids partying until 2:00 a.m.? Fair enough \u2013 then, both of them should stay home. Treat your son and daughter in the same manner \u2013 that\u2019s all I\u2019m saying.<br \/>  <br \/>  <b><big><big>6. Forcing Your Kids to Finish Their Plate of Food<\/big><\/big><\/b><br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/32133-1-250x216.png\"width=\"100%\"><br \/>  (Photo via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tumblr.com\/tagged\/nom\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">Tumblr.com<\/a>)<br \/>  <br \/>  Parents here tend to force their children to finish their plate of food, even if there is no longer any space in their stomachs to accommodate an extra wara\u2019 3\u2019inab (sounds impossible I know, but it happens, I swear). <br \/>  <br \/>  That one bite can make a difference in weight gain and this is an issue parents should treat carefully; health and nutrition should be more important than stuffing your face to make your momma happy.<br \/>  <br \/>  <b><big><big>7. Taking the Entire Family on a Motorcycle Outing<\/big><\/big><\/b><br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/32133-2-250x167.png\"width=\"100%\"><br \/>  (Photo via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.ae\/news\/world\/middle-east\/in-pictures-egypt-celebrates-after-morsi-ousted#image-13\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">thenational.ae<\/a>)<br \/>  <br \/>  Whenever I see this, I don\u2019t know whether to cry or laugh, so I usually end up craughing. It really is quite sad. But that family of five does seem to be having a blast when they\u2019re cruising around Raouche on a motorcycle that&#8217;s supposed to accommodate two people.<br \/>      <figure
