Beirut is the Paris of the Middle East<\/b><\/big><\/big><br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/35538.png\"><br \/>  (Image via <a href=\"https:\/\/profoundlysuperficial.blogspot.com\/2010\/05\/paris-of-middle-east.html\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">Profoundly Superficial Blog<\/a>)<br \/>  <br \/>  OK, let\u2019s start with this. I just want to get it out in the open: Beirut is by no means even close to being the Paris of the Middle East. Don\u2019t get me wrong, I love Beirut just as much as the next person; it has its own unique charm and beauty \u2013 but it is not the Paris of the Middle East. <br \/>  <br \/>  Everyone has to stop saying that. <br \/>  <br \/>  Just stop. It might have been that way in the past, but in case you haven\u2019t noticed, the past is long gone. Last time I checked, Paris didn\u2019t have bombs going off in its various <i>arrondissements<\/i> every two days. You know what else it doesn\u2019t have? Nationwide electricity outages. OH, AND LET\u2019S NOT FORGET, THEY HAVE A PRESIDENT. So stop it with this. Why do we even want to be the Paris of the Middle East? Why can\u2019t we do our own thing? We\u2019re the Beirut of the Middle East \u2013 5losna.<br \/>  <br \/>  <b><big><big>2. Beirut is a Terrorist Hub<\/b><\/big><\/big><br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/35538-1.png\"><br \/>  (Image via <a href=\"https:\/\/imagininglebanon.com\/2012\/10\/16\/homelands-war-on-beirut\/\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">Imagining Lebanon<\/a>)<br \/>  <br \/>  I blame the media 100%. I can think of a thousand examples in which the media has depicted us this way, but a particular TV series (cough cough HOMELAND ehmehm) comes to mind as a recent example.  And it doesn\u2019t just happen through fabricated images either, but in text too. If I was to form my perception of Lebanon through what I saw on American TV and read in British newspapers, honestly, I would think of the country as one big jolly terrorist hub, and that is not the case. For shame\u2026<br \/>  <br \/>  <b><big><big>3. Beirut is a Desert Sauna<\/b><\/big><\/big><br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/35538-2.png\"><br \/>  (Image via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desertroseracing.com\/\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">Desert Rose Racing<\/a>)<br \/>  <br \/>  This assumption isn\u2019t completely unfounded, it\u2019s understandable &#8211; we are in Middle East after all. Some of our neighboring countries do look somewhat like that. It\u2019s humid, yes, for sure. But really, it\u2019s not that hot. And yes, we do need jackets here in the winter. No, we don\u2019t ride camels to work.<br \/>  <br \/>  <b><big><big>4. Beirut is a Cheap Place to Live<\/b><\/big><\/big><br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/35538-3.png\"><br \/>  (Image via <a href=\"https:\/\/blogbaladi.com\/average-price-per-one-square-meter-in-beirut-is-3223\/\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">Blog Baladi<\/a>)<br \/>  <br \/>  HAHAHAHAHA! In what world, my friend? Good luck finding an apartment for less than a $1,000 per month. Even the manakeesh aren\u2019t that cheap anymore. <br \/>  <br \/>  <b><big><big>5. Beirut is Not a Nice Place to Travel<\/b><\/big><\/big><br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/35538-4.png\"><br \/>  (Image via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flytobarcelona.org\/?p=8144\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">Fly to Barcelona<\/a>)<br \/>  <br \/>  Really? I mean, look at that picture! If you want an adventure, come here. We\u2019ve literally got it all. There is no such thing as making plans in this city, you take each day as it comes and just go with it.
