The face tattoo was once a common practice among the Bedouin and other nomadic peoples of the Levant. Today, people sometimes use eyeliner in place of permanent tattooing. <br \/>  <br \/>  Italian photographer Alberto Savioli traveled to Syria in 2004 and took these photos of women with facial tattoos. <\/big><br \/>  <br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/39921-9-170x250.png\" width=\"100%\"><br \/>  (Image via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beitshar.com\/3.htm\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">Beit Shar<\/a>)<br \/>  <br \/>  <big>Savioli said that a woman\u2019s tattoos would be picked out by her mother. The latter which were believed to strengthen the wrist in order to milk animals. (According to Savioli, this tattoo was called the \u2018hallabat\u2019). <\/big><br \/>  <br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\"
