Let\u2019s get a few things straight!<\/big><\/p>\n

1. Your tiny errand\/paperwork will end up consuming weeks of your life.<\/b><\/big><\/big><\/p>\n

Efficiency is not our strong suit.<\/big><\/p>\n

2. Yes, cigarettes are super cheap <\/b><\/big><\/big><\/p>\n

I often see out-of-towners stockpiling Marlboro Lights like they\u2019re going to run away, you can relax, $2 cigarettes are (sadly) here to stay.<\/big><\/p>\n

3. Not everyone is politically affiliated.<\/b><\/big><\/big><\/p>\n

And it\u2019s quite offensive for you to assume that we are.<\/big><\/p>\n

4. Don\u2019t make assumptions about our personal lives either.<\/b><\/big><\/big><\/p>\n

Lebanese people, like all people, have different lifestyles. We\u2019re not all religious just like we\u2019re not all party-animals – do not assume or generalize.<\/big><\/p>\n

5. Nobody puts corn in their man\u2019ouche <\/b><\/big><\/big><\/p>\n

Just because your local man\u2019ouche maker has a tub of corn sitting there, does not mean it belongs on a zaatar man\u2019ouche.<\/big><\/p>\n

6. Beirut isn\u2019t that dangerous.<\/b><\/big><\/big><\/p>\n

It really isn\u2019t. It\u2019s mostly safe to walk around late, too.<\/big><\/p>\n

7. That smell? Garbage.<\/b><\/big><\/big><\/p>\n

And sometimes pee!<\/big><\/p>\n

8. Don\u2019t give us your political opinion. <\/b><\/big><\/big><\/p>\n

Please.<\/big><\/p>\n

9. We tend to run a little behind schedule.<\/b><\/big><\/big><\/p>\n

So if you\u2019re meeting your Lebanese friend for lunch, you may want to take your time.<\/big><\/p>\n

10. Don\u2019t be smug.<\/b><\/big><\/big><\/p>\n
