From our national animal, the striped hyena, to lesser-known inhabitants like the loggerhead turtle and grey wolf, Lebanon is home to a beautiful array of exotic species. Here are some of the animals that share our home with us, and that are sneaky and elusive enough to have been overlooked by you before. Which, if any, have you been lucky enough to spot?<br \/>  <br \/>  <br \/>  <b>The Horned Owl<\/b><br \/>  <br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/54676.png\"><br \/>  <br \/>  Hoo, hoo! The horned owl calls the Shouf mountains home. <br \/>  <br \/>  <br \/>  <b>The Fallow Deer<\/b><br \/>  <br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/54676-1.png\"><br \/>  <br \/>  A common species from Europe, this cute type of deer was introduced to the region over ten thousand years ago, and can now still be found roaming and grazing in grasslands around the country. <br \/>  <br \/>  <br \/>  <b>The Gray Wolf<\/b><br \/>  <br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/54676-2.png\"><br \/>  <br \/>  These majestic wolves roam around in the El Shouf Biosphere Reserve, other natural reserves around the country, and do so freely in some Lebanese forests. <br \/>  <br \/>  <br \/>  <B>The Striped Hyena<\/b><br \/>  <br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/54676-3.png\"><br \/>  <br \/>  The national animal of Lebanon, these feisty dog-like creatures usually travel in packs and can be found in the country\u2019s valleys and mountains. They often get a bad reputation, but have not been proven to pose any threats to humans, despite often being misunderstood as being aggressive, ferocious, and dangerous.<br \/>  <br \/>  <br \/>  <b>The Red Fox<\/b><br \/>  <br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/54676-4.png\"><br \/>  <br \/>  A common animal around the world, the red fox also calls Lebanon home. <br \/>  <br \/>  <br \/>  <B>The Nubian Ibex<\/b><br \/>  <br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/54676-5.png\"><br \/>  <br \/>  A desert-dwelling, mountain-loving wild goat species, this horned Ibex calls Lebanon\u2019s mountains home, and can also be found grazing in the mountains of Algeria, Palestine, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Egypt, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Yemen, and Sudan. <br \/>  <br \/>  <br \/>  <B>The Syrian Brown Bear<\/b><br \/>  <br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/54676-6.png\"><br \/>  <br \/>  Thought to be extinct as of 1958, the Syrian brown bear was spotted again in December of 2016 wandering in Lebanon\u2019s snowy mountains. <br \/>  <br \/>  <br \/>  <b>The Greater Spotted Eagle<\/b><br \/>  <br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/54676-7.png\"><br \/>  <br \/>  A large bird of prey, the greater spotted eagle can be found soaring the skies of the Bekaa Valley.<br \/>  <br \/>  <br \/>  <B>The Mediterranean Monk Seal<\/b><br \/>  <br \/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/54676-8.png\"><br \/>  <br \/>  A rare sighting in Lebanon, the Mediterranean monk seal does exist here, and was even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/l\/51978\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">spotted last summer<\/a> swimming by Beirut\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/l\/1304\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">Sporting Club Beach <\/a>. <br \/>  <br \/>  <br \/>  <B>The Loggerhead Turtle<\/b><br \/>  <br \/>  <img
