The name in and of itself is fancy, dripping with decadence and royal suggestion. And the reality? Not too far off.



Mention el Mamlaket to anyone who grew up North slurping down their fluffy, sweet concoctions and munching on the signature cake, they\u2019ll be rushing to get in the car and make the trek up for a cup. So we were set out to find out what makes it so addictive and memorable, and we were pleasantly surprised.



First, a little history: the shop, located near the bustling area of Azmi in Tripoli, Mamlaket al Chocolat Mou was established as a little cubbyhole over twenty years ago by\u00a0its founding father RIP, whose legacy has been embraced in recent years by his three kids.



The signature cake (the gateau royal<\/i>) is a perfect combination of fluffy mousse and freshly baked chocolate sheet cake. Their decadent chocolate mousse is the real reason to visit, though. Remarkable, fluffy chocolate mousse served in an old school cup that will remind you of sweeter days. A small cup is priced at 3,500 LL, a medium at 4,500 LL, and a large at 5,500 but spare yourself the multiple orders and just get the large from the get-go – and don\u2019t forget about their cake!
