She was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/l\/53137\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">subsequently arrested<\/a>, imprisoned, and tortured in en Egyptian prison for three months for holding up the rainbow flag in support for LGBT rights. <br \/>  <br \/>  <iframe title=\"Embedded Instagram Post\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"532\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CBboLaeF0oG\/embed\/\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"background: white; max-width: 540px; width: calc(100% - 2px); border-radius: 3px; border: 1px solid rgb(219, 219, 219); box-shadow: none; display: block; margin: 12px 0px 12px !important; min-width: 326px; padding: 0px;\"><\/iframe><br \/>  Hegazi then claimed asylum to Canada where she was recovering from the post-traumatic stress due to her time in prison. Sadly, Hegazi died by suicide yesterday leaving behind a note. She was struggling with depression, PTSD, and anxiety. Her note read: &#8220;To my siblings: I tried to survive and failed, forgive me. To my friends: this is difficult and I am too weak to fight, forgive me.
