2020 has felt like an endless journey. Here are just a few things that have happened during every month of this past year. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

January<\/b><\/p>\n

Association of Banks building was set on fire<\/a>, Lebanese politicians were publicly shamed<\/a>, the exchange rate hit 2,480 on the dollar<\/a>, and Hassan Diab’s government was born<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Oh right, and Saad Hariri’s $16 million GF got married!<\/a><\/p>\n

February<\/b><\/p>\n

The female icon of the revolution was summoned to military court<\/a>, Lebanon confirmed its first case of COVID-19<\/a>, Shakira did a “zalghouta” (more or less) at the Super Bowl halftime show<\/a>, and the Lebanese Parliament’s joint committee approved the legalization of marijuana for medical purposes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

March<\/b><\/p>\n

First coronavirus death in Lebanon<\/a>, we clapped for healthcare workers<\/a>, and general mobilization began<\/a>. A financial state prosecutor decided to freeze the assets of 20 Lebanese banks<\/a>, but his decision was suspended one day later<\/a>. AAANNND we witnessed a destructive storm<\/a> that looked a lot like the apocalypse. <\/p>\n

April<\/b><\/p>\n

Non-bank institutions were barred from giving out dollars<\/a>, a citizen was shot and killed during a protest<\/a>, domestic violence increased during lockdown<\/a>, Lebanon gas drilling efforts reveal to be unfruitful<\/a>, ISF completed the largest drug bust in Lebanon’s history of strains named “Ah ya Hanane” and “Kiki, do you love me”<\/a>, and a gunman killed 10 people in Baakline including his wife and brother<\/a>.<\/p>\n

May<\/b><\/p>\n

Protestors held a funeral for the Lebanese lira<\/a>, a solider shot his partner then himself in gruesome video<\/a>, BLOM bank put up a barricade<\/a>, and a swarm of beetles took over the streets<\/a>. <\/p>\n

June<\/b><\/p>\n

Beirut Marathon Association shut down<\/a>, domestic workers were left stranded outside embassies<\/a>, a bank manager was found murdered under his house<\/a>, a mother died with her baby in her arms during crossfire<\/a>, protestors hit the streets in masses<\/a>, people were trading their belongings for food<\/a>, and a video of a Syrian minor being assaulted by a group of men surfaced<\/a>.<\/p>\n

July<\/b><\/p>\n

Beirut airport reopened<\/a>, Lebanon’s annual inflation rate rose to 510%<\/a>, a man died by suicide and left behind a note that said “ana mosh kafer”<\/a>, we learned of ALL the expired chicken<\/a>, and Adidas announced they’re closing in Lebanon by the end of the year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

August<\/b><\/p>\n

Beirut hit by deadly explosion that took 200 lives and decimated the city<\/a>, the Lebanese government resigned<\/a>, and Macron visited the country twice<\/a>. <\/p>\n

September <\/b><\/p>\n

They found more ammonium nitrate at the port<\/a>, a faint heartbeat had us clinging to hope<\/a>, there was a lot of tea drama<\/a>, Lebanese people started migrating by sea<\/a>, a massive fire at Beirut port caused panic<\/a>, and an explosion rocked Ain Qana<\/a>. <\/p>\n

October<\/b><\/p>\n

Multiple fires erupted all around the country<\/a>, more international businesses announced they were shutting down<\/a>, multiple explosions happened in one weekend, killing 5 and injuring 60+<\/a> and we still don’t have a government<\/a>. <\/p>\n
