A forensic doctor determined that her death was due to strangulation presumably at the hands of her husband who fled the scene and is still at large.<br \/>  <br \/>  It was also revealed that Zeina had filed a domestic violence case against her husband only days prior to her death and was awaiting a divorce. <br \/>  <br \/>  Zeina Kanjo is not the first victim of femicide in Lebanon. Women have long been victims of such crimes, but Lebanese laws continuously fail to protect women and girls from domestic violence.<br \/>  <br \/>    <blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We shouldn&#8217;t forget, we shouldn&#8217;t move on, this has to stop. shaming harassing, raping and killing women has to stop.
