country crumbled.<\/p>\n<p>  Looking back on the early 2000s, here is what we thought 2021 would look like, versus what it turned out to be.<\/p>\n<p>  <B>Expectation:<\/b> <i>You know who<\/i> would have been dead by now.<\/p>\n<p>  <B>Reality:<\/b> Still alive, stealing, and kicking. <\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/31.media.tumblr.com\/5428ba15ff7a1f895a10cb81945eccc5\/tumblr_n4y6naJKke1smcbm7o1_400.gif\"width=\"70%\"><\/p>\n<p>  <B>Expectation:<\/B> We&#8217;d finally have state power.<\/p>\n<p>  <B>Reality:<\/b> We don&#8217;t even have generator power.<\/p>\n<p>  <B>Expectation:<\/B> The food industry would finally be regulated, and food safety would be up to par.<\/p>\n<p>  <B>Reality:<\/b> You say a little prayer before taking a bite. <\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media0.giphy.com\/media\/l0NwNrl4BtDD7JCx2\/200.gif\"width=\"70%\"><\/p>\n<p>  <B>Expectation:<\/B> We&#8217;d have fair and democratic elections.<\/p>\n<p>  <B>Reality:<\/b> &#8230;.TBD<\/p>\n<p>  <B>Expectation:<\/B> We&#8217;d have fresh and innovative individuals who would strive to push our industry, economy, and tourism sectors to their full potential.<\/p>\n<p>  <B>Reality:<\/b> No. Just, no. <\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/truesocialmasters.files.wordpress.com\/2016\/05\/giphy-1.gif\"width=\"70%\"><\/p>\n<p>  <B>Expectation:<\/B> Everyone would have access to proper healthcare, shelter, and food security. <\/p>\n<p>  <B>Reality:<\/b> 74% of the population now lives under the poverty line.<\/p>\n<p>  <B>Expectation:<\/B> Lebanon would be the place where we work and play. <\/p>\n<p>  <B>Reality:<\/b> Families and friends groups are scattered across the globe. <\/p>\n<p>  <B>Expectation:<\/b> The political scene is filled with fresh faces.<\/B>  <\/p>\n<p>  <B>Reality:<\/b> &#8230;We&#8217;ve had the same Speaker of Parliament since the dawn of time<\/b><\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\"
