Dating in Lebanon isn’t easy<\/a>. You could show up to a date only to realize that they are your distant cousin, or that they’re a functional alcoholic, or even that they have a really weird relationship with their mother. We asked around about the strangest first date experiences in Lebanon, and the stories did not disappoint, although the dates that inspired them clearly did.<\/p>\n

Here are a bunch of these dating horror stories in Beirut. Warning: these might make you want to live the single life for good.<\/p>\n

1.<\/B> “Went on a first date with someone who kept insisting we do something crazy and wild. They got genuinely pissed when I refused to drive to Batroun for a swim at 9 PM. It was January.” \u2014 anon. <\/p>\n

2.<\/B> “Met up with this girl who would not stop talking about her dad the whole date. Telling me all about his work accomplishments and how funny he is. It was fucking weird” \u2014 Ghassan, 42 <\/p>\n

3.<\/B> “Went on a beach date with someone who ditched me to go have lunch with her friends and wanted me to wait until she was done. Worst part is I ended up waiting…” \u2014 Ali, 33<\/p>\n

4.<\/B> “This guy called for a drug delivery while we were out together. His dealer then came and had a drink with us” \u2014 Mayssa, 31 <\/p>\n

5.<\/B> “Swiped right on a guy on Tinder. Chatted for a few days and he seemed normal enough…when we went out he said his mom already likes me” \u2014 Fatima, 30<\/p>\n

6.<\/B> “Went out to Mar Mikhael with someone who immediately started bashing other people in the restaurant and saying ‘ma byeshbahoona, hol mish min el mant2a’. He was basically a sectarian prick” – anon<\/p>\n

7.<\/B> “He kept dramatically sighing and re-counting the money for the bill even though I repeatedly offered to split.” \u2014 anon<\/p>\n

8.<\/B> “Went on a date with a guy I met online. He turned out to be my sister’s high school ex boyfriend.” – Jenny, 20<\/p>\n

9.<\/B> “My date picked me up and had to pass by his house because he forgot his wallet. As we were parking, another car approached. A girl got out of her G-Class and started yelling at me. She was his girlfriend of 2 years and I had no idea he was in a relationship.” – Lynn, 22<\/p>\n

10.<\/B> “I was having a beer with my Tinder date when my mom called saying she’s having difficulty breathing. My date suggested going to her place and driving her to the hospital. There at AUBMC were my dad and my two older brothers. The guy met my whole family on the very first date”. – Maria, 24<\/p>\n

11.<\/b> “After a first date repeatedly interrupted by phone calls, a guy promised me I wouldn’t even see his phone this time, it rang within 2 minutes.” – Jane, 25<\/p>\n

12.<\/B> “I went out on a date with a guy who kissed my hand and then had the nerve to comment on my nails, saying ‘OMG, you’re not wearing any nail polish!'” \u2014 Kate, 22<\/p>\n
