In the midst of multiple crises, Lebanon renewed its focus on local innovation and production. The newest of these is the Lira<\/strong>, a new all-Lebanese designed and made electric car. We’ve got all the details you need to know about Lebanon’s newest electric car right here.<\/p>

The Lira is designed by Hisham Houssami, a local industrialist. He claims<\/a> it will be able to transport you 200 km on one charge. The charging takes only 30 minutes when using electricity, and if the sun is out and the conditions are good for solar, the car charges itself without the need of any outside input.

Houssami was motivated to develop the car after witnessing how the fuel and economic crises have affected drivers in Lebanon. Speaking to Xinhua<\/a>, Houssami said that “it’s a shame that the Lebanese can barely afford gasoline, and it’s even more painful to see people suffering to access the commodity every now and then.” He also expects the car to find a market in neighboring countries such as Iraq, Syria, and Libya.

In 2021, EV Electra had launched Lebanon’s first ever electric vehicle, with the Quds Rise<\/a> sports car. Set to be built in Lebanon from start to finish, the automobile was created by Lebanon-born Palestinian businessman Jihad Mohammad. It’s a red sports car with butterfly doors and a big golden insignia on the bumper. It’s production and launch dates remain unclear for now.
