Did you know that there&#8217;s also a Lebanese martial art? Allow us to introduce you to <strong>Kowat Alrami<\/strong>.<\/p>    <p><\/p>   <div class=\"lazy-load-block-container\"><img style=\"width: auto; height: auto;\" class=\"lazy-load-block\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/alrami.jpg\" alt=\"kowat alrami\" \/><\/div>   <p><\/p>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-and-why-kowat-alrami-started\"><strong>How and why Kowat Alrami started<\/strong><\/h3>    <p><\/p>    <p>In 1980, a sports medicine doctor and martial arts expert, Walid Kassas, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.podcastjournal.net\/A-Lebanese-martial-art-worldwide_a11585.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">created Kowat Alrami in Tripoli<\/a>. The martial art is aimed at designing a fighting style that reflects traditions in the Arab world, as evidenced by its Arabic name, which translates directly into &#8216;power of the throw.&#8217; Kassas also teaches the <a href=\"https:\/\/traditionalsportsgames.org\/index.php\/sport\/75-kowat-alrami\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">use of the Arab sword<\/a>. This guy sounds pretty cool!<\/p>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-about-the-style-itself-nbsp\"><strong>About the style itself <\/strong><\/h3>    <p>Different martial arts typically emphasize specific aspects of fighting. Taekwondo focuses on kicks, and Judo centers on throwing. Kowat Alrami aims to <a href=\"https:\/\/traditionalsportsgames.org\/index.php\/sport\/75-kowat-alrami\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">combine various elements<\/a> from the aforementioned tactics, including striking and submission. However, it&#8217;s doubtful that it incorporates sumo wrestling elements&#8230;<\/p>    <p><\/p>    <p><\/p>   <div class=\"lazy-load-block-container\"><img style=\"width: auto; height: auto;\" class=\"lazy-load-block\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Screenshot-2024-02-09-at-1.48.43-PM.png\" alt=\"kowat alrami\" \/><\/div>   <p><\/p>    <p>In 2007, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.podcastjournal.net\/A-Lebanese-martial-art-worldwide_a11585.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the world registration<\/a> for the martial art was finalized in Italy. This was followed by a dedicated Arab Federation in 2009, and the Olympic Arab national councils adopting the martial art in 2010. An amateur\u00a0competition was also held in Lebanon last November!<\/p>    <p><\/p>   <div class=\"lazy-load-block-container\"><img style=\"width: auto; height: auto;\" class=\"lazy-load-block\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Screenshot-2024-02-09-at-1.49.10-PM.png\" alt=\"kowat alrami\" \/><\/div>   <p><\/p>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-new-take-on-the-grading-system\"><strong>A new take on the grading system<\/strong><\/h3>    <p>You know that black belt some of us always wanted as kids, but we quit after the first month of lessons? Well, in Kowat Alrami, you can achieve something even cooler. The martial art has a <a href=\"https:\/\/kowat-alrami.org\/grading-degrees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unique grading system<\/a> where you receive badges for your martial arts suit. The grades are represented by symbols in the following order: the star, the crescent, the moon, the sun, the sword, and the highest level: the fist. Subsequently, you progress with numbers below the fist until you reach the tenth level, akin to the concept of a tenth dan or tenth-degree black belt.<\/p>   <div class=\"lazy-load-block-container\"><img style=\"width: auto; height: auto;\" class=\"lazy-load-block\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Screenshot-2024-02-09-at-1.49.21-PM.png\" alt=\"kowat alrami\" \/><\/div>   <p><\/p>    <p>Whether you&#8217;re into martial arts or not, Kowat Alrami is so much more than just kicks and punches.
