Who remembers turning on the radio and adjusting the antennas to find the perfect frequency? Before smartphones and television took over, our homes were alive with the sounds of radio stations. But the radio was more than just entertainment\u2014it was a lifeline, especially during the war. Let\u2019s take a look back at a few iconic Lebanese radio stations that left an unforgettable mark, now living on only in the memories of those who experienced them.<\/p>

During the civil war, Lebanon had over 100 radio stations. Among them was 2FM<\/strong>, a private station operated by the Irish forces of the United Nations. Broadcasting 24\/7 from Tebnine, it became a part of their daily lives here. When their mission ended, the station closed, leaving behind only the echoes of its broadcasts and the memories it created.<\/p>

There were others too, like Magic 102<\/strong>, launched by President Bashir Gemayel back in 1979. Broadcasting from Zouk Mikael, its reach extended from Beirut to Zahle. They played Arabic music on weekdays and switched to English on weekends.<\/p>

Radio Stations That Became Part of Our Lives, Then Disappeared<\/strong><\/h3>

Who remembers Radio Rama<\/a><\/strong>? This station, broadcasting from Achrafieh, was once a household favorite. It shut down in 1997, but no one ever forgot about it. They\u2019re actually back with a trial broadcast and are set to launch their programs soon. Their return sparked a wave of nostalgia among listeners from that era.<\/p>

Another station from the same era was Midway Radio<\/strong>, which operated from 1984 to 1989. Its full name, Midway Radio Station 97.5 (MRS), reflected its diverse focus on foreign music\u2014from rock and jazz to reggae and classical.<\/p>

Among the more unique stations was Radio Paradise<\/a><\/strong>, broadcasting in Armenian from Bourj Hammoud. It beautifully captured and shared the stories of an entire community.<\/p>

There were stations like Kool FM, which later became Mix FM<\/strong>, and France FM, which sold its frequency to Light FM<\/strong>. The names changed, but the memories still live on. The same goes for Fame FM<\/strong>, which originally started as Melody FM. Who remembers Viny Roumy<\/a>‘s show at 5 PM? <\/p>
