When we were kids, gardens were full of it, and we never gave it a second thought. We\u2019d be out walking, spot it from a distance, run over, pick it, and eat it. It felt like discovering a hidden treasure, and that tangy, mouthwatering taste kept us coming back for more.<\/p>    <p><\/p>    <div style=\"display:flex;justify-content: center;align-items: center;\">   <div class=\"lozad wp-twitter-embed\" style=\"text-align: center;width:80%;max-width: 100%;\" data-twitter-src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Lebanez_Alberta\/status\/1892329385757208865?t=QtBqJHEc4wULIcB9I-zkoQ&#038;s=19\"><\/div>  <\/div>    <p><\/p>    <p class=\"has-text-align-right\">And the best part? The competitions! Who could gather the most? Who would find the biggest leaf? We felt like champions, sitting in the middle of nature, eating straight from the ground, no washing, no prepping&#8230;laughing with our friends and secretly hoping our parents wouldn\u2019t catch us. But today, buildings and construction have taken over the orchards, and now we have to search for a patch of greenery just to introduce our kids to the nature we grew up with.<\/p>    <p><\/p>      <p><\/p>    <p class=\"has-text-align-right\">7ommayda will sprout again next month, like it does every year, in any place where there\u2019s still a bit of greenery. Maybe in an olive grove, or along some forgotten roadside, since its seeds spread with livestock manure. But the sad thing is, many people see it as a useless weed, uproot it, and toss it away\u2014without realizing that for us, it was the joy of childhood! Its long leaves, yellowish hue, and that unforgettable sour taste.<\/p>    <p><\/p>    <figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"525\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/54518356_2099216623494301_1177476528422780928_n.jpg\" alt=\"\u062d\u0645\u064a\u0636\u0629\" class=\"wp-image-745042\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/54518356_2099216623494301_1177476528422780928_n.jpg 525w, https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/54518356_2099216623494301_1177476528422780928_n-219x250.jpg 219w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/figure>    <p><\/p>    <p class=\"has-text-align-right\">That intense flavor comes from oxalic acid, which is what made us addicted to it. With a pinch of salt and cumin, it makes the perfect natural afternoon snack. Our grandparents?
