Menstruation is still a taboo topic in many parts of Lebanon. So we\u2019re here to bust a few of the most common Lebanese myths about menstruation.<\/p>

2. \u00a0Starting menstruation means a woman is ready for marriage<\/h3>

It\u2019s a common misconception<\/a> that beginning menstruation either means a woman has physically matured or marriage should be used as a preemptive measure to mitigate risk of pregnancy out of wedlock.<\/p>

3. You shouldn\u2019t do sports during menstruation<\/h3>

Leakage is unlikely as most women only lose around two-four tablespoons<\/a> during menstruation. <\/p>

Also, no, it does not attract sharks<\/a>. Yes, some people really believe that.<\/p>

11.\u00a0Menstrual blood is unclean<\/h3>

It’s not a “sickness”, so you don’t have to refer to it as one. However, if you pretended to be sick so people would leave you alone, we wouldn’t blame you. <\/p>

<\/p>

Period blood isn\u2019t rejecting any bodily fluids and it\u2019s NOT the body\u2019s way of flushing out toxins. It\u2019s just a bit of blood, uterine tissue, mucus lining, and bacteria. It\u2019s a very natural process and nothing about it is inherently unclean<\/a>.<\/p>
