Designed by French visionary Auguste Perret alongside Lebanese architect Antun Tabet, the hotel quickly became a magnet for the world\u2019s elite. The hotel suffered heavy damage during the infamous \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/cities\/2015\/may\/01\/beirut-holiday-inn-civil-war-history-cities-50-buildings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Battle of the Hotels<\/a>,\u201d its elegant fa\u00e7ade scarred by conflict. Restoration plans stalled yet again, and the St. Georges seemed destined to remain a ghost of its former self.<br><\/p>    <p><\/p>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A New Dawn<\/h3>    <p>In 2020, after decades of bureaucratic red tape, the St. Georges <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beirut.com\/en\/59493\/24-years-later-st-georges-hotel-gets-license-to-be-rebuilt\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">finally received the green light to rebuild<\/a>.
