But despite being celebrated abroad, this Lebanese film was censored in its home country.<\/p>    <div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-happened\">What Happened?<\/h3>    <p><\/p>    <p>Although the film had been screening uncut across international festivals, Lebanon\u2019s censorship office withheld screening approval until a particular scene was removed.<\/p>    <p><\/p>    <p>Emmy nominated writer and director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/lucien_bourjeily\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lucien Bourjeily<\/a> voiced his frustration in an Instagram post. He wrote that it\u2019s unfortunate that &#8220;art in Lebanon continues to face this kind of obstruction, distortion, and censorship.&#8221; He also added that &#8220;the role of the authorities should be to support and encourage cultural and artistic industries.&#8221;<\/p>    <p><\/p>   <iframe title=\"Embedded Instagram Post\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"532\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DMASrVlItcJ\/embed\/\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"background: white; max-width: 540px; width: calc(100% - 2px); border-radius: 3px; border: 1px solid rgb(219, 219, 219); box-shadow: none; display: block; margin: 12px 0px 12px !important; min-width: 326px; padding: 0px;\"><\/iframe>   <div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-was-the-scene-about\">What Was the Scene About?<\/h3>    <p><\/p>    <p>In a comment under his post, Bourjeily revealed what the censored scene showed.<\/p>    <p><\/p>    <p>It depicted a group of protesters sitting together, watching a video of their friends being brutally assaulted by security forces. Bourjeily speculated that the scene was a reminder of the brutality that Lebanese protesters experienced during the revolution.
