Former Deputy Speaker Elie Ferzli confirmed the bill was on its way to the National Assembly. Fast forward five years, and the government is only now taking the first step toward implementing that law.<\/p>    <p><\/p>    <div style=\"display:flex;justify-content: center;align-items: center;\">   <div class=\"lozad wp-twitter-embed\" style=\"text-align: center;width:80%;max-width: 100%;\" data-twitter-src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bintjbeilnews\/status\/1945805897193709904\"><\/div>  <\/div>    <p><\/p>    <p>In July 2025, Lebanon\u2019s Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani <a href=\"https:\/\/today.lorientlejour.com\/article\/1468792\/hani-cannabis-regulatory-authority-to-be-formed-by-late-july.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">confirmed<\/a> that the government is set to establish the <strong>Cannabis Regulatory Authority<\/strong> by the end of July or early August. This authority will be responsible for issuing licenses, supervising production, and managing the sector\u2019s development.<\/p>    <p><\/p>    <p>The list of candidates for the authority\u2019s membership has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtv.com.lb\/en\/news\/Local\/1594451\/mtv-sources--there-is-a-move-to-appoint-the-regulatory-authority-for-cannabis-today\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reportedly been finalized<\/a>, signaling a major step forward.<\/p>    <p><\/p>    <p><\/p>    <p>Lebanon\u2019s move to regulate medical cannabis could open up new economic opportunities, especially in the Bekaa Valley, where cannabis has long been cultivated illegally for hashish production.
