It connected Beirut to Damascus and Haifa, but ceased operations in 1948 after the Nakba. This event disrupted the station&#8217;s role as a vital link between Beirut, Damascus, and Haifa. <\/p>    <p><\/p>    <p>Subsequent to this, train services continued between various Lebanese regions until they were halted entirely during the Lebanese Civil War from 1975 to 1990. The station has remained neglected since then.<\/p>    <div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-2-million-restoration-project\">The \u20ac2 Million Restoration Project<\/h3>    <p><\/p>    <p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unesco.org\/en\/articles\/unesco-and-italy-will-rehabilitate-beiruts-iconic-train-station?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">July 2023<\/a>, UNESCO and Italy signed an agreement to finance its restoration and rehabilitation, mobilizing \u20ac2 million. <\/p>    <p><\/p>   <iframe title=\"Embedded Instagram Post\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"532\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C5lfUlWs-4i\/embed\/\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"background: white; max-width: 540px; width: calc(100% - 2px); border-radius: 3px; border: 1px solid rgb(219, 219, 219); box-shadow: none; display: block; margin: 12px 0px 12px !important; min-width: 326px; padding: 0px;\"><\/iframe>   <p><\/p>    <p>The project aims to preserve the station&#8217;s industrial heritage and transform it into a cultural landmark.
