At least, that\u2019s what Lebanese clinical psychologist Khalil Habchi wants you to believe.<\/p>    <p><\/p>    <p>On a recent episode of MTV\u2019s podcast &#8220;Behind the Mirror&#8221;, Habchi argued that women who don\u2019t feel attractive to men tend to \u201cturn to\u201d other women. <br><\/p>    <p>He went on to \u201cexplain\u201d that when men fail to \u201cactivate\u201d women (yes, he actually used that word) or respond to their emotional cues, women allegedly start seeking validation from female friends. According to him, this is where same-sex attraction comes from. Back in 1991, the American Psychological Association (APA) actually <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/pi\/lgbt\/resources\/avoiding-bias?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published an article<\/a> on heterosexist bias. Maybe ChatGPT forgot to correct him while he was prepping for the podcast. Betseer.<\/p>    <p><\/p>    <p>The APA points out that scientific research can be deeply shaped by heterosexist bias. This is when human experience is framed strictly in heterosexual terms, which often leads to ignoring, invalidating, or outright pathologizing same-sex behaviors and relationships.<br><\/p>    <p><\/p>    <p><strong>In other words, claims like Habchi\u2019s aren\u2019t just scientifically flimsy. They reflect a long history of research that dismissed or degraded LGBTQ+ experiences.<br><\/strong><\/p>    <p><\/p>    <p>Given that the <a href=\"https:\/\/lopsy.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lebanese Order of Psychologists<\/a> cites the APA multiple times in its own ethical guidelines, it\u2019s hard to see how Habchi\u2019s comments align with professional standards. His statements are outdated, stigmatizing, and harmful to the LGBTQ+ community.<br><\/p>    <p><\/p>    <p>Psychologists who make claims this unfounded and damaging should be held accountable for violating the ethical principles of their profession.<br><\/p>    <p><\/p>    <p>We call on the Lebanese Order of Psychologists to clarify their stance on such statements and to ensure LGBTQ individuals remain protected in mental health spaces.
