The building has lived through some of the most dramatic chapters in Beirut&#8217;s modern history, including the French Mandate, independence, the civil war, the city&#8217;s post-war reconstruction and, most recently, the 2020 port explosion. <\/p>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>   <iframe title=\"Embedded Instagram Post\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"532\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DdjbY_UCAMq\/embed\/\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"background: white; max-width: 540px; width: calc(100% - 2px); border-radius: 3px; border: 1px solid rgb(219, 219, 219); box-shadow: none; display: block; margin: 12px 0px 12px !important; min-width: 326px; padding: 0px;\"><\/iframe>   <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2016, Lebanese department store group ABC rented the property and moved its headquarters there, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.raarchitects.com\/work\/interior-design\/offices\/villa-mexico\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">working with Lebanese architect Ra\u00ebd Abillama<\/a> and his firm to restore the villa while retaining its distinctive architectural character. <\/p>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When A Garden Becomes A Development Opportunity<\/h3>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bustros&#8217; post points to a familiar Beirut pattern: a historic villa remains standing, but the land around it becomes increasingly valuable. In a city where land is scarce and construction has transformed entire neighborhoods, that concern goes beyond Villa Mexico. <\/p>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For now, the tower remains a possibility rather than a confirmed project.
