Share Your Messages Against Sexual Harrassment In Lebanon Using The Hashtag #Mesh_Basita

Remember last year’s national campaign advocating against street harassment in Lebanon called #NotYourAshta? This year, The KIP Project on Gender and Sexuality at AUB have launched a similar campaign against sexual harassment using the hashtag #Mesh_Basita.

It is a sad reality that in current day Lebanon, there is no legislation specifically confronting sexual harassment in the country. In partnership with the Office of the Minister of State for Women’s Affairs, KIP aims to highlight the need for legislation against sexual harassment and to mobilize the general public’s opinion towards pushing for legal reform around the topic.

The KIP Project’s campaign #Mesh_Basita #مش_بسيطة stands for the idea that sexual harassment is not okay and should not be normalized. KIP released the below video to help spread awareness of their message and to help mobilize Lebanese mentalities into fighting against sexual harassment around the country.

KIP encourages those around Lebanon who agree that sexual harrassment is not okay to help support the cause by sharing pictures and messages online using the hashtags #Mesh_Basita or “مش_بسيطة#”.

By sharing the message, you can help contribute to an essential cause that will hopefully help to end cultural tendencies toward sexual harassment in Lebanon. The campaign will go on until August 15, so be sure to get your message across before then!

Be sure to follow the KIP Project on Facebook to stay up-to-date with the campaign’s success and to see all of the #Mesh_Basita messages sent in from around the country.
