Looking to escape Beirut’s non-stop noise? Sip on a cup of coffee at one of these cafes around the city for a break from reality.
1. Sip Beirut New to Gemmayze, this sweet little cafe is perfect for some quiet alone time with a cup of Joe.
2. Dar Bistro & Books A popular spot for reading and studying, Dar Bistro is not only a quaint cafe, but a delicious restaurant as well.

This Hamra restaurant/bar turns their music up at around 8 PM, but before that, it’s the perfect place for peace, quiet, and coffee in the heart of one of Beirut’s most chaotic neighborhoods.
5. Kaldi Coffee Bar A tiny little coffee shop in Hamra, Kaldi has a few seats inside and along the outdoor ledge for those of you who’d like to sit down and enjoy your coffee in solitude.

By night this spot gets loud and rowdy, but by day it’s an ideal spot for a quiet cup of coffee during your break.
7. Cafe de Penelope (by day)
For a quiet coffee, a delicious meal if you’re hungry, and added points for having them both in one of Beirut’s trendiest hoods.

9. Internazionale (by day)
If you’re looking for somewhere quiet, do not head to Internazionale at night time – it’s quite the opposite. But by day, Internazionale is a quiet and pleasant spot to have coffee and reply to that email you’ve been ignoring all week. Sit on one of their outdoor picnic tables and people watch once you’re done.
10. Urbanista Their Gemmayze branch is surprisingly quiet throughout the day, and if you’re heading to the Hamra branch, be sure to sit upstairs for your fix of tranquility.
11. Bread Republic (by day)
We suggest you head to the Hamra branch and sit on one of their outdoor tables, where you’ll hear nothing but the birds chirping – interrupted by Hamra’s cars honking every once in a while, but that’s what you’ll get everywhere in Beirut.
12. Kissproof (by day)
Grab a book or your laptop and head to Kissproof for a tranquil cup of coffee and a tasty grilled cheese sandwich. It usually fills up around 7 PM, when it becomes more of a bustling bar than a quiet cafe, so plan accordingly.
