Riwaq Beirut

We are ending the month with none-other but the beloved Arabic poet that we love and wait for, Leen Hashem! If you haven’t heard her before, make sure to bring a band-aid for your heart as Leen Hashem is bound to make you feel like you haven’t felt in a long time.

“Leen Hashem is a writer, translator and researcher living in Beirut. She majored in gender and sexuality studies, and she is part of local and regional queer and feminist groups. Her essays and translations have been published in a number of newspapers, magazines and websites including Shabab Assafir and Kohl Journal for Body & Gender Research. She has worked as a trainer, policy advisor and researcher at multiple institutions, including “FRIDA: the Young Feminist Fund,” the American University of Beirut and the Lebanese International University. She loves Beirut and takes a stroll by the sea at least once a week. She started writing Arabic poetry at the age of 8, but only recently mustered the courage to share it with the world.
